Kylie Jenner's Skincare Line Is Already Receiving Backlash -- Here's Why

Kylie Jenner has a new skincare line, but not everyone is on board with her new project.

Named Kylie Skin, the latest venture in the self-made billionaire's beauty empire includes face wash, vanilla milk toner, serum, face moisturizer, eye cream and a scrub. While some fans were excited to see the light pink packaging and new products (out May 22), others began criticizing Jenner for her use of the walnut face scrub.

"It's really gentle. It's gentle enough to use every day," Jenner says in a video posted on the brand's Instagram account about the scrub. "I recommend two or three times a week. That's how much I use it."

"Some walnut face scrubs are kind of harsh on the skin. This isn't too abrasive," she adds. "It really leaves my face feeling super baby soft. Makes you look glowy and takes away dead skin cells. My walnut face scrub is my secret to a fresh face."

Fans on social media immediately called out the exfoliate, saying the scrub would be too hard on the skin.

"Walnut is so bad for your skin long term and that is well known. This does not give me hope for the rest of the products because it means they didn’t do the bare minimum research," one user claimed.

Another user who claimed to be a licensed esthetician also tweeted that, "you should not be exfoliating everyday!!!!! 1x a week MAX!! And Walnut will cause micro tears in your skin, using it everyday will result in couperose skin (broken capillaries)."

"The affects are oftentimes not immediately obvious especially if you use other decent products. But w time the damage grows and can cause issues such as dryness," another person tweeted. "Plus not all skin is the same, but it’s better to treat your face like a baby than be rough and possibly damage it."

Meanwhile, there were also a handful of people who poked fun at Jenner for giving a "St.Ives Apricot 2.0."

There are, however, some fans and followers who say it is too early to judge the product and they will just have to wait and see its results after it's made available.

Kylie Skin isn't the only line she's working on. This week, the mother of one also filed for a trademark on "Kylie Baby" and "Kylie Baby by Kylie Kenner" for baby and infant clothing, skincare and lifestyle products, according to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

She also filed trademarks for "Kylie Hair" and "Kylie Hair by Kylie Jenner" for shampoos, conditioners, hair dye, hair tools and more.
