Reese Witherspoon's Wild role is a far cry from her Legally Blonde days, and it could earn her a second Oscar win.
The 38-year-old actress plays Cheryl Strayed, a woman who takes a 1,100-mile solo hike as a way to recover from a recent catastrophe. The trailer cuts between her time alone in the woods and the life and family she left behind.

At one point in the flashbacks, it's revealed that she's "using heroin and having sex with anyone that asks." Other familiar faces in what looks to be a compelling film include Newsroom's Thomas Sadoski -- who plays Witherspoon's love interest-- Laura Dern, Gaby Hoffmann and Michiel Huisman.
Wild is based on Cheryl Strayed's New York Times No. 1 bestseller of the same name, and hits theaters Dec. 5, 2014. Do you think this role could earn Reese another Oscar?
