Disney star Bella Thorne has a message to share with all her fans: "You should demand more" from the guy you're dating.

The discussion came up when ET spoke to Thorne during a press junket for her upcoming Disney family film Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day. The film follows an ordinary family who happens to be having an extraordinarily bad day.

In the movie, Dylan Minnette plays Anthony, brother of the eponymous Alexander, who is sharing in the terrible day's bad luck. Thorne plays Anthony's girlfriend, Celia, who seems to ask a lot from her struggling paramour.

"I say more girls should take a few lessons from Celia," Thorne said. " You should demand more. A guy should send you flowers after your first date, and let you know how beautiful you are every single day. I don't care if he's tired. He should always ask you how your day is. Girls accept less, and that is not okay."

The 16-year-old Disney star went on to bemoan the decline of chivalry among eligible suitors.

"For some reason, guys don't seem to think that that's possible," Thorne said, referring to the showering of flowers and compliments she believes should be more common place. "I have no idea what has changed, but my father used to send my mother flowers every single time after they went on a date. I think that is so respectable."

"Guys, now, look at you like you're crazy if you say that that's what you want," Thorne added. "They literally look at you like your nuts. And I'm like, 'Well, if you're not going to give that to me, then bye-bye.'"

"If people want to see me in short down to my knees? Sorry. You're not going to get that. I'm going to wear my brandy shorts and I really don't care."
