She may be BFFs with superstar Katy Perry nowadays, but in the months following the release of her viral hit Friday, Rebecca Black admits the negative attention seeped nastily from the internet into her personal life.
On ABC's Primetime Nightline: Celebrity Secrets, the 14-yr-old teen sensation revealed the incessant bullying of her teenage classmates was so intense, her mother was pushed to pull her now world-famous daughter out of public school.
Recounting some of the most hurtful incidents Rebecca said, "When I walk by they'll start singing Friday in a really nasally voice, or you know, they'll be like, 'Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?'"
Georgina Marquez, Black’s mother, added her child "certainly did not need that kind of pressure."
Despite the recent upsetting turn of events for Rebecca, she has learned a valuable lesson. "I think if I hadn't had to deal with that in the past then I totally would have handled this differently and I would have gone down in burning flames. But I've learned that you just can't let it get to you."
