Her love of the holidays is evident on her album Today Is Christmas, and she told us that she received some unlikely help in putting the project together from her stepsons, Mason, 12, and Jake, 8.

"Jake loves to sneak in underneath the coffee table or underneath the piano where we can't see him, and he'll listen and all of a sudden you'll hear him, and he'll pop out and say, 'I think it should go like this,'" Rimes said. "So yeah, he helped write the record."

Mason and Jake are Eddie Cibrian's sons from his previous marriage to Brandi Glanville.

Today Is Christmas, out now, features many holiday classics, but also includes two original songs co-written by Rimes.

While the singer is kicking off her holiday tour on Friday, she plans on being home in her pajamas in time for Christmas Eve.

"On Christmas Day we end up around the piano most of the time at some point -- not sober probably," Rimes said. "Everything sounds really bad by the end of the night."
