"This song means a lot to me, and it has played such a huge role in my career,” Dion said in a statement. “I'm so grateful to the late James Horner, and to Will Jennings, for writing it and creating the opportunity for me to be part of Titanic, an amazing film whose legacy will continue for generations to come. It's a great honor to have the opportunity to perform it on the Billboard Music Awards' international stage, in celebration of the film's 20th anniversary."

At the 1998 Billboard Music Awards, Titanic's soundtrack won Soundtrack Album of the Year in addition to topping the Billboard 200 chart. "My Heart Will Go On" won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Last August, Dion sang the hit song at the live finale of Greatest Hits, and dedicated her performance to her late husband, Rene Angelil, who died in January 2016 after a lengthy battle with throat cancer. "'My Heart Will Go On' has been an important song in my life for nearly two decades," she shared at the time. "I’m very honored to sing it for all of you and for the love of my life. Rene, you will always be in my heart."
