The BC Coroners Service has confirmed Cory Monteith died from a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol. Toxicology results did not indicate any presence of the drug fentanyl.
The post-mortem testing, which included an autopsy and toxicological analysis, seem to confirm this was an accident.
Monteith was found deceased in his room at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, shortly after noon on July 13. He had checked into the hotel on July 6 and had been expected to check out on the 13th. When he had not done so, hotel staff checked his room and found him deceased.

"They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory's family."
Earlier this week it was revealed that Cory Monteith died from a mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol on July 13 in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia.
Could Red 2 be one of the last times you see Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker on-screen?
Parker, 48, recently told News Corp Australia that she's not sure how much longer she'll continue to act.
"I'm not really that into it anymore," she said. "I don't know how many more movies I wanna do. I wouldn't mind doing a TV show again, I'd like to do a couple more plays, but I'm almost done acting, I think."
She's fed up with the mean-spirited nature that comes along with being in the entertainment industry.
"The world has gotten too mean for me, it's just too bitchy. All the websites and all the blogging and all the people giving their opinion and their hatred … it's all so mean-spirited, it's all so critical," she said. "It's sport for people, it's fun to get on at night and unleash their own self-loathing by attacking someone else who they think has a happier life -- or something, I dunno."
Admittedly, the negative feedback gets to her.
"I don't know if you can imagine a friend sending you something they thought was funny, that was something mean someone wrote about you and there's like 50 comments from complete strangers across the world about you -- and you can say 'Oh I let it roll off my back' and 'I wouldn't take it personally', but you have no idea until it happens to you. It doesn't feel nice."
And what does she plan to do after leaving acting?
"I would write, still. I write for Esquire and writing makes me happy," she shared. "I would take care of my kids and my goats. That's about it. Bake. Throw my Internet in the lake …"
Looks like things are getting serious between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard!
Promoting The Lone Ranger in Japan, Depp, 50, brought along his girlfriend, Heard, 27, and his two kids with ex Vanessa Paradis, Lily Rose and Jack, making it a true family affair.
Clad in a casual white dress and wearing sunglasses, Heard kept it low-key upon their arrival in Japan on July 16, 2013, but there was no mistaking her famous face! She seemed especially close to 11-year-old Jack, putting an affectionate hand on his shoulder.
Amber and Johnny met on the set of 2011's The Rum Diary, but didn't publicly step out as a couple until April 27, when the two were spotted holding hands at a Rolling Stones concert in Los Angeles. Depp split with longtime love Paradis in 2012, but maintains that he'll always "care" for her.
"The trajectory of that relationship – you play it out until it goes, one thing leads to another. So for whatever reason that ceases, it doesn't stop the fact that you care for that person, and they're the mother of your kids, and you'll always know each other, and you're always gonna be in each other's lives because of those kids," he told Rolling Stone in June. "You might as well make the best of it."
A rep for actress Emma Roberts spoke out on behalf of the Scream 4 star on July 16, after news broke about her brush with the law in Montreal, Canada.
Emma, 22, was arrested (and quickly released) this past week after police responded to a domestic dispute between the actress and her 26-year-old boyfriend, American Horror Story actor Evan Peters. Prosecutors later dropped the charges.
"It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding," Emma's rep tells ET. "Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it."
The Montreal Police Department declined to release information about the incident that occurred in the couple's hotel room, but did confirm that they were called to Emma and Evan's room, briefly arresting one of the parties before ultimately dropping the charges.
