"The Glamorous Life" is the song, written by Prince, that launched Sheila E into stardom, but she revealed that her life was anything but during their high-profile love affair in the '80s.

"I didn't read the fine print, but at the end of the Purple Rain tour, I was $1 million in debt," said Sheila. "Basically every time I ordered something like new clothes or a new car, they kept saying, 'Oh yeah! No problem. We'll take care of it. We got you.'"

Sheila said she eventually got the amount reduced and was able to pay it off.

Still, Sheila admits that her time with Prince wasn't all bad, and she remembered what drew her to him, saying, "We never slept. We had so much fun. We had so much in common, so we loved to be in the studio at all hours of the night."

Sheila tells all in her new book The Beat of My Own Drum, in stores now.
