Bette Midler is celebrating her birthday Monday, and her one wish is for Ariana Grande to forgive her after their brief public feud.

Midler, who turned 69, tweeted another pseudo-apology, and even suggested that she and Grande should collaborate in the future.

One week ago, Midler slammed Ariana Grande's "sexy" image saying, "It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch looking so ridiculous… Trust your talent. You don't have to make a whore out of yourself to get ahead."

After Midler's comments picked up steam, Grande responded with a screengrab of a lengthy tweet that read, "Bette was always a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgment! not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back!!! always a fan no matter what my love."

It only took two hours for Midler to tweet out an apology (sort of)…

While Midler did take a dig at herself in the post, she made sure to keep the couch references, maintaining the "backhanded compliment" tone of the original interview comments.

But now, on her birthday, it looks like Midler is reaching out yet again. If the 21-year-old "My Everything" diva does accept the offer, we could get a Bette Midler-directed Ariana Grande music video out of it, and that might just be the best/weirdest thing ever. Ariana could totally rock Bette's iconic mermaid costume.
