Leighton Meester
and Gillian Jacobs star in the new romantic comedy, Life Partners, about the platonic and adorably sweet friendship between Paige, a straight and successful lawyer, and Sasha, a gay, "still figuring it out" receptionist trying to follow her musical ambitions.

Both characters are on the quest for love, and just like Sasha's character faces some hilarious dating mishaps in the flick, both actresses have been on even worse dates in their real-lives.

"I can't say that I've ever gone on a date that I liked...it's funny," Leighton, who is married to co-star Adam Brody, shared. "Anytime I've ever ended up dating somebody it was never like 'going out' because usually I would do that with someone I didn't like... see how it goes. Oh man, yeah."

But, Leighton did recall one specific and hilarious dating mishap she experienced at the age of 14.

"When I was a teenager, someone I worked with was like 'let me set you up with my son' and I was not into the idea, but I was like 'alright, let's go!'" Leighton divulged. "It was a never-ending date! He took me on out to dinner, then bowling, then to a movie, and on a walk, then to their house..."

Needless to say things didn't go so well... for either party involved.

The former Gossip Girl actress added, "He ended up going to military school and writing me, saying 'your ugly' and 'screw you!'" No need to come to Leighton's defense though, years later her teenage date-gone-wrong apologized for the immature message.

Gillian's bad dating experiences take the cake, though. "I have so many!" she joked. "A guy telling me he could get me a job at a strip club and telling me I should come over so his mother could cook me breakfast in the morning."

And, the bad dating adventures didn't stop there!

"One guy threw my phone across a bar!" the 32-year-old exclaimed. "And then I had to give him a ride home.. and then he tried to get me to go to San Diego with him the next morning," a proposal the actress clearly turned down.

The actresses also opened up about why people freak out during the late 20's about turning the big 3-0.

"Society alone," answered Meester, who turns 29 in April. "I feel zero pressure, but society is like, ‘It's time, it's time to get your act together!'"
"I think it's some sort of artificial marker in your head of that's when you're really supposed to be an adult," added Jacobs. "It's okay be messed up in your 20s... but by the time you're 30, you're supposed to have it all figured out... and then you're like 'oh wait, I still don't.'"

It’s this transition that their characters Sasha and Paige have to navigate in Life Partners and despite their opposite personality traits, they are still each other's "go-to person" in the flick. It's their loyalty, funny quirks, and love for one another's well-being that hold the on-screen friendship together. (And, let's be honest, their mutual obsession with America's Next Top Model, face masks, and junk food doesn't hurt!) The relationship is tested though when Paige starts to settle down with Tim, a charming and thoughtful doctor, played by Brody.

During our interview, the stars shared who in their real-lives fill that "best friend" role of cheering them up after a gruesome day. You'll have to watch the video above to watch their sweet and candid answers!
