Rebekah Bortnicker was contacted by Swift after sharing a video she made on Tumblr which recast the Friends opening credits with all of Swift’s famous gal pals. The singer replied to one of Bortnicker’s posts with an envelope emoji and a few days later, the Swift superfan received a FedEx box containing a handwritten letter, Polaroid photos, and a check for $1,989.

"I was thinking about you today, and how you have been there cheering me on in the most thoughtful and creative ways," Swift wrote to her fan, adding on a note on the check, "Rebekah, now you’re $1989 closer to paying off those student loans."

Bortnicker shared a reaction video of herself emotionally opening the packages and realizing Swift’s generous gift.

"I know I've said it so many times already but thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Never in a million years did I ever imagine this happening to me," Bortnicker thanked Swift on Tumblr. "I am so honored and so thankful to call myself a fan, to have supported you all of these years because you are truly the most amazing, genuine, and selfless person.”
