We don’t know why reporters even bother anymore. We know that working in the field is part of the job, but at this point, we would have thrown the towel in and told people to get their news themselves. It’s not worth it.

CityNews’
Shauna Hunt was reporting live from the Toronto FC’s soccer match over the weekend when she got #FHRITP-ed on air. If you’re not familiar, that’s when someone -- usually a man -- interrupts a live newscast to shout, “F**k her right in the p***y!” It started as a hoax, but became 2014’s stupidest and most NSFW meme.

Instead of apologizing (for something she didn’t do) and continuing on with the broadcast, Hunt confronted the hecklers, asking, “Were you guys waiting around to see if you could eff her in the P me, live on TV?”

“You would humiliate me on live television?” she continued questioning.

The problem is that you can’t reason with men like this, who feel entitled to do whatever they want to do, whenever they want to do it, because they are men. Worse, men who for whatever reason, think a two-year-old meme is still funny.

Is that a threat?

“It’s overwhelming.” Shana later explained on Toronto’s Breakfast Television. “Every single day, people are yelling this at us. Men drive by, roll down their car windows and just yell it at you on the street.”

Meanwhile, the Kingston Police Department says this kind of heckling may, in fact, be considered a crime, while Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment released a statement saying they’re “appalled” by this behavior.

“We are working to identify the individuals, and when we do they will be banned from all of our facilities,” MLSE said, noting they will provide extra security for female journalists for future matches. “Our organization is committed to an environment where everyone can feel safe and included and discrimination or intolerance of any kind will be met with a swift and serious response.”

Good.

Now here’s something nice that happened on TV this week: Watch Noah Galloway propose to his girlfriend on Dancing With the Stars!
