Cara Delevingne Reveals Acting Is Her True Passion, Not Modeling

WSJ. Magazine

Modeling isn't all it's cracked up to be!

Cara Delevingne apparently put her dreams aside to walk the runways.

The Victoria's Secret model spoke candidly to WSJ. Magazine about her passion for acting and how modeling actually deterred that career path.

"I basically gave up on acting, because trying to get an agent was impossible. Everyone said, 'You're just a model,'" she told the mag. "Once I had my mind set that I was going to do this modeling thing, I really wanted to beat it, if that makes sense. Win it."

While she makes modeling seem like a glamourous job, it clearly isn’t fulfilling for her.

"I ended up feeling a bit empty. Fashion is about what’s on the outside, and that's it," Delevingne explained. "There's no searching, it's just creating pretty things."

But where there's a will, there's a way!

The 22-year-old makes her big-screen acting debut as Margo Roth Spiegelman in Paper Towns, out in theaters on July 24. She also stars in the upcoming London Fields, Tulip Fever and the highly anticipated Suicide Squad.

But don't call her a model/actress just yet, though. "I don't want to be that cliché: model-slash-actress," she admitted.

In addition to acting, Delevingne also revealed an interest in singing. In fact, she recently dabbled in music by recording a song with Pharrell, and she hopes to make her own album too.

Not afraid of criticism, she said, "People are going to judge it so harshly that I think it has to be amazing."
