The baby news explains the mysterious touchdown dance Newton did in Sunday's loss against the Atlanta Falcons in which he mimicked rocking a baby to sleep after reaching the end zone in the first quarter.
"I've been quiet about this because I didn't want to create a distraction for my team and appreciate the privacy in this joyous time," Newton tweeted.

Sunday marked the Panthers' first loss of the season, putting them at 14-1.
"We got our ass kicked today, and to a lot of degree, we deserved it, especially the type of way we played -- offensively, defensively and special teams," he told NFL.com following the 20-13 defeat. "And I'm talking with the mirror in front of my face. There were some plays that we left out there, we knew it."
Despite the loss, the Panthers still have the best record in the NFL and have clinched their division with just one week left in the regular season.
