"Family Equality Council is building a supportive and stronger community for LGBTQ families," Perry continued. "As parents, we overcome many obstacles when raising a child. When one of those obstacles is acceptance, we are grateful to know there's an organization like this one standing in the forefront fighting for equality right beside us."

Gilbert and Perry will receive their 2016 Impact Award from Gilbert's The Talk co-host, Sharon Osbourne, while Golden Globe winner Calista Flockhart will be presenting her Brothers & Sisters producer, Berlanti, with his distinction.
