"He's a huge part of my journey in life," Bindi said. "At this point in my life, I'm looking forward to a lot of things. I'm going to be 18. There's so much on the horizon!"
While she lives her life on the wild side by taking care of animals that strike fear into most people, Bindi's 18th birthday party will be a tame event that will include "cups of tea and maybe some takeout Chinese food."
"I'm going to ask mom if we can go rent a movie," Bindi said with a laugh. "It'll be a really good night."
No doubt her birthday will stir up memories of her late father Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin, who died nearly 10 years ago. Bindi told us she still wants to be just like him when she "grows up."
"After losing him it was quite a journey to try and find happiness again, because life is short," Bindi said. "You have to do what you love now, and you have to do what brings you the most joy. Dad was the best at that."
