The service took place five days after Yelchin's tragic death -- the actor was struck by his car and pinned to a security fence in the driveway of his Los Angeles home last Sunday. A coroner confirmed the cause of death to be traumatic asphyxia, a condition arising from intense compression on the chest.

Since his death, Yelchin's friends and Star Trek co-stars have reacted to the loss on social media, writing kind notes of remembrance.

"Your sudden and unexpected departure has left us all broken hearted," Yelchin's Star Trek co-star Zoe Saldana shared via Instagram on Thursday. "I woke up today feeling absolute gratitude that I had you as a friend and colleague…It was an honor to have crossed paths with you."

Zachary Quinto expressed similar sentiments on his Instagram, posted several days earlier. "Our dear friend. Our comrade. Our Anton. One of the most open and intellectually curious people I have ever had the pleasure to know. So enormously talented and generous of heart. Wise beyond his years and gone before his time. All love and strength to his family at this impossible time of grief," he wrote.
