Halle Berry Pens Emotional Post on Recent Police Shootings: 'What Will My Brown Son's Future Be?'

Halle Berry is yet another star speaking out against the recent police shootings.

The actress took to Instagram on Thursday, posting a picture of her 2-year-old son, Maceo, alongside a passionate plea for change.

“What will my brown son's future be?” Berry wrote. “What will your brown son's future be? The uncertainty is real.”

The 49-year-old actress, who is also the mother to an 8-year-old daughter, Nahla, begged her followers “not to be a bystander in this life, but to go out and find ways to make peaceful change.”

“Our boys need us so rather than launching into deep sentiment here on this platform, I promise to find ways to get involved and help,” she continued. “Please do the same. You can start by reaching out to your local politicians, legislators & government officials NOW. Let us be heard. God bless all the victims and families of these senseless CRIMES.”

Berry is the latest star to speak out this week, following the police shooting deaths of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minnesota.

On Wednesday, rapper Drake shared an emotional post to Instagram calling for change and “honest dialogue.”

"It's impossible to ignore that the relationship between black and brown communities and law enforcement remains as strained as it was decades ago," he wrote. "No one begins their lives as a hashtag. Yet the trend of being reduced to one continues."
