The 15-year-old daughter of U.S. Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay was shot and killed in Lexington, Kentucky, on Sunday.
According to a police statement, the shooting occurred between two vehicles around 4 a.m. in the parking lot of the Cook Out restaurant between two vehicles. Trinity was shot at the scene, brought in a private vehicle to a hospital, and then transferred to the University of Kentucky hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Two people have been detained for questioning in relation to the shooting, but police say they are still working to locate one of the vehicles involved.
USA Track & Field sent a message of support to Tyson via Twitter. "Sending our thoughts & prayers to @TysonLGay & his loved ones as they mourn the tragic & senseless loss of his daughter, Trinity," the athletics organization said.

Tributes are also being shared on Facebook, showing Trinity, full of smiles, and a strong runner in her own right.
Tyson, 34, has represented the U.S. three times in the Olympics and has won gold medals in several world championship events. Trinity was his only child.
