Kim Kardashian West is slowly but surely recovering from her traumatizing robbery in Paris, France, last month.
The 36-year-old reality star stepped out to her sister Kendall Jenner's star-studded 21st birthday party on Wednesday night, accompanied by her husband, Kanye West. A source close to the Kardashians tells ET that Kim appeared to be in a very social mood.
"She was really happy to be able to celebrate her sister's 21st birthday," the source says. "Kim looked really happy to be out with her family. She was smiling and talking to everyone."
Still, the mother of two isn't completely ready to be back in the spotlight. Kim declined to enter Kendall's big bash at celeb hot spot Delilah restaurant through the front like the rest of her famous family, opting instead to sneak in the back door with Kanye.
"Kim is doing OK," the source says. "She's still needing some time away and is not fully ready to throw herself back into her old routine just yet, but she will with time."
Last week, a source told ET that Kim is definitely ready to start getting back to her normal life, but is wisely taking her time.
"She's taking it day by day and isn't pushing it," the source said. "It's been almost a month since the robbery happened and the break is something that she definitely needed."
The source also said that time off after the scary incident was actually beneficial for Kim, since it gave her time to "unwind" and "be a normal person."
"She went through a very traumatic experience and it definitely put a lot of things in perspective for her," the source explained. "She needed to take a step back and it really has been such a good thing for her. She really hasn't had a chance to spend that much quiet time with the kids [North and Saint] since each of them was born. This was the first time in years that she could just unwind and be a normal person. She is really happy she was able to do so."
Kim recently posed for her first photo since the robbery, and it was meaningful one. She and Kanye helped fan Cameron Sterling celebrate his 16th birthday backstage at Kanye's Los Angeles concert on Tuesday night. Cameron is the oldest son of Alton Sterling, who was shot dead by police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in July.
"Shoutout to @kanyewest & @KimKardashian for showing 16th bday love last night to my client #CameronSterling, eldest son of #AltonSterling," the Sterling family attorney Justin Bamberg captioned the pic that was posted to his Twitter account on Wednesday.
