Kerry Washington had a message for those tweeting about her Scandal character, Olivia Pope, after Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election to Donald Trump.
The fictional political crisis manager started trending on Wednesday morning, with fans of the show asking for Olivia Pope's expertise after Tuesday night's shocking turn of events. In the ABC series, Washington's character is currently campaigning for former first lady Millie Grant to become the next president.
"Where is Olivia Pope when you need her?" Demi Lovato tweeted.
"Goodnight, America. Will be dreaming of #OliviaPope storming in and saying these magical words. #considerithandled #gladiator #scandal," Ash vs Evil Dead actress Dana DeLorenzo also wrote.
Washington responded to the tweets with a stern, heartfelt message of her own. "OLIVIA POPE is trending. But Olivia Pope is not real," she tweeted. "What's real is the need for love today. LOVE yourself. Take CARE of you and your loved ones."
While we all know Olivia Pope isn't "real," the 39-year-old actress' tweet does have the assertiveness of her beloved character.
Washington isn't the only celebrity preaching about love and acceptance after Tuesday night's election. Lady Gaga even went so far as to stand outside New York's Trump Tower with a message of hope.
