Pence attended a performance of the Tony-award winning production on Friday night, where he was called out by Brandon V. Dixon -- who portrays America's first treasury secretary and the third vice president, Alexander Hamilton -- at the end of the show in a statement that was written by the cast and the show's creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and producer Jeffrey Seller, according to Broadway.com.
“We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” Dixon declared after thanking the vice president-elect for attending. “We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.”
“I really enjoyed watching Hamilton,” Pence told Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace during a pre-taped appearance. “It was a real joy to be there. I heard a few boos. I wasn’t offended by what was said.”
Trump, however, responded differently to the statement and expressed his disapproval on Twitter. “Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing,” he tweeted on Saturday morning. “This should not happen!”
Baldwin quickly responded to Trump's post with a series of tweets. "Equal time? Election is over. There is no more equal time. Now you try to be Pres + people respond. That's pretty much it," the 56-year-old actor wrote. "You know what I would do if I were Prez? I'd be focused on how to improve the lives of AS MANY AMERICANS AS POSSIBLE."
"I'd be focused on improving our reputation abroad, including actually fighting for freedom and not just oil," he added. "I would make every effort to retrain Americans so to create jobs. One way you make America great again is to put it back to work. ...I would make appointments that encouraged people, not generate fear and doubt."
Baldwin concluded his Twitter rant: "@realDonaldTrump, I could go on. You want more advice, call me. I'll be at SNL."
