Mandy Moore opened up about having kids and revealed that her own family isn't exactly "traditional" (by some standards) in a candid new interview.

"I've never really talked about this," Moore told Byrdiemagazine recently. "But my parents are divorced. My mother left my father for a woman, and both of my brothers are gay."

The This Is Us star noted that her parents "loved each other" and did an "incredible job in raising all of us,” yet her “seemingly traditional” family structure began to change as she got older.

Despite having what she calls "the least traditional" family, Moore believes that everyone is "exactly where they should be."

"Everyone's so much happier, richer, and more fulfilled being their authentic selves," she explained.

While Moore started her career as a "clueless suburban mall teenager from Orlando," she now sees herself as an old soul.

"I feel like I'm a 62-year-old in a 32-year-old body," Moore joked.

The former pop singer also admitted that getting married at age 24 was a way of creating her "own kind of normalcy."

Moore's divorce from musician Ryan Adams was finalized in June, and while there is a new man in her life, Dawes singer Taylor Goldsmith, she doesn't feel pressure to settle down. But she does have a time table for motherhood.

"I want to have kids in the next couple of years," the actress confessed. "I always said that I want to take care of myself to the best of my ability before I venture into that phase of my life."

ET caught up with Moore over the summer where she talked about playing a mother of triplets on the hit NBC drama, and wearing a "35 pound prosthetic belly" in the pilot episode.

"We actually only worked with babies in the pilot. It definitely gets the ovaries kicking a little bit because I’m not a mom," Moore admitted adding, "It's good practice."
