Lorde
is back!

The 20-year-old singer-songwriter has released her first single since 2014 -- and "Green Light" was worth the wait. Not only did Lorde drop her latest track on Thursday, she also unveiled a music video to go with it. Watch below.

"Green Light" will be featured on Lorde's highly anticipated sophomore album, Melodrama, due out this summer. The track was produced by Lorde, Jack Antonoff and Frank Dukes.

Lorde took to Twitter to preview the song on Wednesday, telling fans that "it's the first chapter of a story I'm gonna tell you, the story of the last two wild, fluorescent years of my life. This is where we begin."

The New Zealand-born star also couldn't help but gush a little bit about how "proud" she is of the song.

"It's very different and kinda unexpected," she tweeted. "It's complex and funny and sad and joyous and it'll make you DANCE."

It seems Lorde has had no shortage of inspiration since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, Pure Heroine, in 2013. Lorde's breakout single, "Royals," scored her two GRAMMY Awards, she struck up a famous friendship with Taylor Swift, and fell in and reportedly out of love with longtime boyfriend James Lowe.

In November, on the eve of her 20th birthday, Lorde opened up about her experiences of the last year.

"I maxed out every single emotion I have in the best possible way, the colours still aching behind my eyes like this weird blissful hangover," she wrote. "I moved out of home and into the city and I made new friends and started to realize that no-one is just good or bad, that everyone is both. I started to discover in a profound, scary, blood-aching way who I was when I was alone, what I did when I did things only for myself. I was reckless and graceless and terrifying and tender. I threw sprawling parties and sat in restaurants until the early hours, learning what it’s like to be an adult, even talking like one sometimes, until I caught myself. All I wanted to do was dance. I whispered into ears and let my eyes blaze on high and for the first time I felt this intimate, empire-sized inner power."

"And then I wrote a record about it, all of it, so much more than what I’ve written down here, and I’m in new york getting it done," she added.

Lorde still managed to find time for celebrating with a star-studded NYC bash as she rang in the new decade! See more from the festivities below.
