"All I can say is, I loved his monologue and I loved those last couple minutes where he made a great bipartisan plea to keep funding things like Children's Hospital [Los Angeles]," said Silverman, who has remained good friends with Kimmel since their split in 2009. "The stuff that is getting cut right now is affecting children with disease!"

During his monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the comedian teared up as he shared that his son, Billy, had to undergo surgery at just three days old. Billy will also have to have two more procedures as he grows up.

"I thought he was beautiful and elegant," Silverman added. "My heart is with him and Molly."

Silverman also talked about her new Hulu show, I Love You, America, which she said is a departure from her usual material.

"I've been wanting to do a show more about social politics. Not about the oligarchy, the money addicts that are in charge right now, but the actual people of America who seem so divided. We are very divided, and I feel like all we need to do is be a little more one-on-one," she explained. "Get our porcupine needles down and realize we're all the same."

Kimmel, who is taking the rest of the week off on paternity leave, took to Instagram Tuesday to thank fans for their "outpouring" of support.
