EXCLUSIVE: 'Bachelorette' Rachel Lindsay Reacts to Frontrunner Peter Not Being Ready for Marriage
Rachel Lindsay admits she was taken aback during an important date with Bachelorette fan favorite Peter.
ET sat down with 31-year-old Lindsay ahead of Monday's highly anticipated episode featuring the contestants' hometown dates, and she opened up about Peter's mom telling her that her son isn't ready for marriage, which fans saw in the teaser.
"Well, I already felt that Peter has his walls up, which I relate to -- that was me on Nick [Viall's] season, but to hear a parent say that ... a mother knows her child," Lindsay tells ET's Lauren Zima. "I was a little shocked by that. And it was something I wanted to talk to him about later on or whenever I had the chance to."
"I'm like, what are we doing here, you know?!" she adds.
Lindsay clearly didn't see the admission coming.
"It really took me by surprise," she acknowledges."That was probably the most shocking thing from his hometown."
Another surprising hometown encounter came with Bryan's mother, who Lindsay learned played a key role in his last breakup.
"He told me in his last relationship, his mom and his last girlfriend didn't get along," she reveals. "I was nervous going into his hometown, thinking, 'OK, will I get along with his mom?' You'll see it play out. He described his mom as a fireball -- I am too."

Lindsay also dishes on her hometown date with Dean, who previously confided to her about his strained relationship with his father, whom he referred to as "eccentric." Dean's mother died when he was 15 years old.
"[It's] something like you've never seen in Bachelor history before," Lindsay says about her date with Dean, in which he confronts his family drama. "It's a different type of family -- but you only get a sneak peek, and I'm really excited for you to see it all play out. I was very comfortable in Dean's home. I think I was more comfortable than he was, and he had some issues he needed to flesh out with his family, and you'll see that happen tonight."
Lindsay describes the date as "emotional."
"I think it was surprising for his family members to hear where he's coming from because he had never expressed these things before," she explains. "He shocked himself at being brave enough to confront his family about certain things on his mind."
Last week's episode featured plenty of tears, as Lindsay narrowed down her final four, which also includes Eric.
"I was very close with my top four," she admits. "It was a really hard decision for me to get from six to four."
