Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson Team Up for ACM Awards Duet

Reba previously told ET she was "thrilled to death" about the performance.

Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson have joined forces.

The mother- and daughter-in-law duo hit the stage at Sunday's Academy of Country Music Awards for an epic, emotional duet. As part of the ACM Awards' 25th anniversary flashback series to the 1993 ceremony, McEntire and Clarkson performed the country icon's '90s hit "Does He Love You." McEntire, who hosted Sunday's ceremony, originally recorded the duet with fellow country artist Linda Davis.

This was hardly the first time fans have seen these two perform together. In fact, McEntire and Clarkson used to sing that very song while touring in 2008. But, as Clarkson gushed to ET's Nancy O'Dell backstage after the awards show, the thrill of performing with a musical legend never goes away.

"No matter how long I've known her, and no matter that we're even family now, it's still that 10-year-old kid [who] gets so giddy," she marveled.

In an interview on Facebook Live earlier this week, McEntire said she was "thrilled to death" about reuniting on stage with Clarkson, admitting that they had no plans to rehearse ahead of time.

"I've known her since 2001, so we've gotten to perform together a lot," the singer said. "We'll go do it, probably run through it Sunday morning and do dress rehearsal and then do it live that night."

In fact, McEntire loves hearing Clarkson sing country so much, she's gunning for her to put out an entire country album!

"She'd be so good at that," the singer and TV star gushed to O'Dell backstage after the show. "She's good at anything. She could sing the phone book and I'd listen to it 100 times."

Sunday night also marked McEntire's 15th time hosting the ACM Awards.

"I love live television [and] I love hosting; I think it's fun," she said. "After you get to hosting a little bit, you get used to it. And then you go sit out in the audience when you're not hosting and you're like, 'I wonder what's going on backstage? I wonder what they're doing? What's going on?' I miss the excitement of being part of the show."
