Backstage at Jim Parsons' First 'SNL' Hosting Gig!

ET goes backstage with Jim Parsons as he prepares to host Saturday Night Live for the first time!

The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons is rehearing this week for his first time hosting Saturday Night Live and ET's Rob Marciano went to the New York set of the iconic late-night comedy show to find out how things are going and to quiz him on SNL trivia!

While Jim, 40, told Rob during a break from rehearsal on Tuesday that nothing had yet been decided about his opening monologue, he said he'd be willing to do something unconventional. "I did tell them I'm very open. I said I'm not hell-bent on coming out and delivering a bunch of words. If you'd rather I sing or dance, I'm open to that."

Jim admitted that it was a bit intimidating walking the historic SNL halls, but added that it's also "a very fun place to be" and he's already anticipating the desire to come back. "I've heard that as soon as you finish the first one here you're going to want many, many more."

The star said he literally "jumped" and was "muted ecstatic" after getting the call to do SNL. "Honestly it's one of those things that I haven't thought a lot about, you know you're doing other things and you can't count on things like that ever happening," he said. "But it was something in the back of my head I knew if I ever got the chance to do it -- no matter how scared I felt -- there is no way in hell I wouldn't do it."

Watch the video to see Rob test Jim's knowledge of past SNL stars and to also hear cast member Bobby Moynihan reveal his favorite part of the sketch creation process.
