Halle Berry is making her big return to TV  this summer in the new Sci-Fi show Extant, premiering July 9 on CBS.

The Oscar-winning actress got her start on the small screen 25 years ago, starring in Living Dolls and Knots Landing. Though Halle has gone on to become the major movie star we know today, when she sat down with ET’s Nancy O’Dell to chat about the show, the mother-of-two admitted she just couldn't turn down the part.

"This was so well written, so provocative and at the helm of it was a strong, complicated female character that I loved," she said. "And I thought 'wow,' I have to do this."

But, the character isn't the only reason she had to take on the project. She also wanted to work with the show’s Executive Producer, Steven Spielberg, very badly.

"He's the king and I desperately wanted to work with him," she said.

In the series, the 47-year-old plays an Astronaut named Molly, who returns to Earth after a 13-month solo space mission to find out that not only was she not alone … she’s now pregnant!

If you’re confused, you’re not alone. But this unknown element of the show is exactly what Halle thinks is so enticing.
