The Bachelor and Bachelorette franchise is headed to paradise ... but things aren't nearly as beachy as they may seem!

If it’s one thing we've learned about the Bachelor and Bachelorette franchise, it’s that wherever they go, the drama always follows. Which mean naturally, Bachelor in Paradise is going to be no different when it premieres on ABC August 4!

Similar to the previous spin-off show, Bachelor Pad, this new series is bringing back a batch of fan favorites to find a second chance at love in the most dramatic way possible. Between the door slams, the ocean make outs, and blushing going on in the promo alone, it’s clear the fans are in store for quite a while ride.

ETonline caught up with contestant Marquel Martin, who we first met during newly engaged Bachelorette Andi Dorfman’s season, after the taping of "The Men Tell All" and got the real scoop on the upcoming show.

“When you kind of even out the ratio in terms of girl to guys, you get, you know, a lot of personalities, and a lot of different ones romantically,” he admitted. “It was challenging.”

But, like, not as hard as The Bachelorette. Right?

“I don’t think it was as challenging as The Bachelorette because I think The Bachelorette was so tough because it's like ‘Hey, your odds are significantly stacked against you,’ in terms of getting what you want out of it.”

Spoiler alert: finding love on a reality show isn't the fairytale it’s cracked up to be.
