'Million Dollar Listing' Partners James & David Talk Celebrity Real Estate

ETONLINE

James Harris and David Parnes are lifelong friends and share insight on their working dynamic and celeb real estate.

James Harris
and David Parnes are the newest addition to the Million Dollar Listing: Los Angeles cast. Their English charm, killer style and "no-nonsense" approach to closing deals has made them a force to be reckoned with on the Bravo reality show. When ETonline caught up with the partners we learned that the real secret to their success is each other.

"[Our dynamic is like] husband and wife," James jokes. "We have known each other our whole lives so when I moved to Los Angeles 11 years ago, David, six [years ago], it made sense both coming from real estate backgrounds in London to set up Bond Street Partners and to try and tackle the Los Angeles market."

Parnes and Harris are the co-founders of the luxury real estate firm Bond Street Partners and credit their close personal bond for contributing to their success.

"When it really gets down to the hard core negotiating it's good because we have a partnership, we can bounce off each other," David adds.  "We can read each other very well."

The pair specialize in high-end residential real estate and investment properties in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood, the Hollywood Hills, Malibu, the Pacific Palisades and the greater Los Angeles. In 2013, the partners sold a listing on Melrose Place, home to boutiques of renowned designers Oscar De La Renta, Chloe and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's store, The Row. Suffice to say, they've had their fair share of high-profile clients.

"Celebrities are always looking for the obvious-- which is privacy," James says. "I think in today's society celebrities have no privacy. There is no boundary with paparazzi so these gated, guarded communities are becoming more and more popular."

In addition to more privacy, James explains celebs are also looking for a house that is completely finished.

"A lot of them just don't have the time to gut a house, remodel it or even build it," he says.

David adds, "James and I always try to do the best job and respect them and get them a deal they want."
