The Originals has delivered jaw-dropping twists and action-packed turns in their sophomore season, and now the final episode of 2014 is almost here.

Fans were thrilled when Claire Holt returned to reprise her role as Rebekah, The Mikaelson's most kickass sister, and on Monday's mid-season finale, the family drama is going to reach an all-time high.

ETonline has your exclusive sneak peek at one of the most stressful moments of winter wrap-up, plus inside scoop from The Originals' executive producer Michael Narducci about what's next for our favorite family now that they're trying to hide from their mother, an ancient sadistic witch, who is trying to kill her one-of-a-kind supernatural grandbaby. (God we love this show!)

"Well when we left Rebekah she had just snapped Elijah's (Daniel Gillies) neck because she realized that something was off kilter with Elijah," Narducci exclusively explained to ETonline about the above clip. "He had slaughtered a bunch of innocent people, and perhaps had done so for no real reason. He wasn't really threatened. He could have just compelled them, so he is not fully himself."

So in an effort to protect Elijah, baby Hope and the rest of the Mikaelson clan, Rebekah took Klaus' advice and escaped to the family's safe house. "It's been cloaked by magic and nobody can find them," Narducci said. "And that will be the site of a family reunion. So you can expect to see Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) arrive and spend some time with the family."

Okay, be honest: who else is dying to see Hope reunited with her hybrid parents?!

Unfortunately this Instagram-worthy moment is going to be short-lived because Esther is hell-bent on killing that sweet little girl. "They have to decide exactly what they're going to do as a family to address this threat that is posed by Esther," he said. "The advantage that they now have is that Esther does not know where that baby is or that the baby is alive, and they want to take care of her before the secret is revealed."

And despite her MIA status for the majority of the season, Rebekah is going to play an integral role in the plan to defeat Esther once and for all. "So for Rebekah who has cared for Hope for the past several months, she is going to have a very strong protective instinct and is going to decide to get involved in the take-down of Esther. That will be the big big story point for her in this episode," he said.

The Originals' mid-season finale airs Monday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
