Lucious Lyon is back in the boss’ seat and back to pulling his family’s strings in this sneak peek at Wednesday’s all-new Empire.

Last week’s episode saw the former CEO orchestrate the demise of his family’s biggest rivals in a shocking double death. After Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) destroyed Camilla’s (Naomi Campbell) marriage with Empire majority shareholder Mimi Whiteman (Marisa Tomei), Lucious (Terrence Howard) showed up at the couple’s apartment to make sure the deed was done, setting the scene of a murder-suicide.

While it was the scheming patriarch of the Lyon family who convinced his son’s former lover to poison herself after she killed her wife, in this clip from Wednesday’s episode, “The Tameness of a Wolf,” Lucious is giving all the credit to Hakeem and laying it on thick.

“I wanted to commend you on getting rid of Camilla like that,” he tells his son. “I didn’t think you had it in you.”

“It wasn’t supposed to go down like that,” Hakeem tells his father, growing emotional as Lucious insinuates that the fatalities were his plan all along.

Thankfully, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is there to keep everyone on track, warning Lucious to get back to work on his music video, instructing Jamal (Jussie Smollett) to finish his upcoming album and checking in with troubled eldest son Andre (Trai Byers).

“No more fighting,” she tells them all. “To the world, there’s nothing to see here.”
