Later, when Bell Biv DeVoe commandeer the stage to perform their hit, "That Girl Is Poison," Brown is livid, and returns to the stage for a nasty melee.
The miniseries will follow the rise and fall of the '80s boy band (featuring Brown, Bell, Bivins, DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant) that paved the way for other groups like Boyz II Men, NSYNC, The Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block. The group reached enormous heights in the '80s and '90s, but struggled to share the limelight, causing tension and deep rifts between its individual members.
ET went behind the scenes with the miniseries' stars, Bryshere Y. Gray, Elijah Kelley, Luke James, Keith Powers, Algee Smith and Woody McClain earlier this year, where they revealed that the original group members spent time with them on the set.
"It's just so exciting to have them here living," Kelley said. "A lot of times we do biopics and we honor our heroes ... when these people are passed away. But to have BBD [Bell Biv DeVoe] and New Edition, Johnny Gill sitting out there in the stands ... you can't ask for anything else."
