EXCLUSIVE: 'The Good Fight' Creators Reveal Three New Guest Stars

CBS

Who will be joining Christine Baranski in 'The Good Wife' spinoff?

The countdown to The Good Fight has begun.

ET was on the scene at The Good Wife spinoff’s official premiere at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City on Wednesday, where we caught up with the creators and stars of the anticipated CBS All Access drama series.

Though audiences will have to wait a little over a week for the exciting return of Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) to the small screen, creators Robert and Michelle King revealed a trio of new guest stars who will be joining the fight.

Veteran actors Andrea Martin, Fisher Stevens and Louis Gossett Jr. will make their splashy debuts on The Good Fight, the Kings revealed exclusively to ET. The three will all appear in the eighth episode.

“One of the problems with being connected to The Good Wife is you’re living in the same world, so you can’t recycle the same actors into other parts,” Robert said. “So when you create a new part, you have to go looking for other actors you’ve never used before. And The Good Wife has used a ton of them!”

Recurring Good Wife players who will reprise their characters on The Good Fight include Matthew Perry, Denis O’Hare, Jane Alexander, Paul Guilfoyle, John Benjamin Hickey and Rita Wilson.

The showrunners echoed what they said back in January, when asked about the likelihood that Julianna Margulies, who led the charge on The Good Wife for seven seasons as Alicia Florrick, could make an appearance or two.

“We’ve been in conversation with Julianna and we agree that story was finished in precisely the way it was meant to be finished,” Michelle explained. “What was nice about the end of The Good Wife was it propelled us on, but propelling us on with different characters.”

Set one year after the events of The Good Wife series finale, the spinoff kicks off after the father of a young lawyer, Maia Rindell (Rose Leslie), gets caught in a national Ponzi scheme scandal, which wipes out her godmother Diane’s entire life savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee after her plans to retire go awry, Diane and Maia join Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at one of Chicago’s preeminent law firms. Delroy Lindo, Sarah Steele, Justin Bartha, Erica Tazel and Bernadette Peters also star.
