In the sneak peek, newly reunited couple Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge) meet at a New York City coffee shop and they adorably argue over how they’ll break the news to his family that they’re exclusively dating again.

“Why don’t you just sit with them?” Kevin suggests to his ex-wife, referencing his play that has yet to open.

“I’m slinking in when the lights go down, back row, and then when you take your bow, I am sneaking out -- successfully avoiding the entire Pearson clan, especially Kate,” Sophie says, reminding him that they’ve been keeping their romance under wraps. “We haven’t even told them that we’re dating yet.”

But Kevin seems to think everything will work out just fine if they’re up front about their relationship status, only Sophie doesn’t seem to be comfortable with that idea, taking that as her cue to leave.

“You’re going to leave me here with a floundering career and a lukewarm Americano?” Kevin quips.

“Kevin, you’re dating the ex-wife you cheated on 12 years ago, yet somehow managed to woo back at a diner with a ‘C’ health rating,” Sophie says, planting a kiss on his cheek, before offering him some needed validation that his play will get off the ground.

In February, Hartley spoke to ET about Kevin's mission to win Sophie back, saying there's a lot of history still for the couple to work out.

"There is dirty laundry to be aired out," Hartley said. "It’s not a fun thing, but to sometimes get what you really want, you have to talk about things that are uncomfortable and may be sad, and may be rotten, and things you can’t take back. But sometimes you need closure to open things back up."

This Is Us
