The Oscar winner is joining the Ryan Murphy universe.

Move over, Lady Gaga! American Crime Story has found its star for Versace: American Crime Story.

Oscar-winning actress Penelope Cruz will take on the coveted role of Donatella Versace in the third installment of American Crime Story, FX announced Monday.

The 42-year-old actress joins previously announced stars Edgar Ramirez, who will portray Donatella’s brother Gianni Versace, and Darren Criss, who will play Andrew Cunanan. This marks Cruz’s first Murphy project.

Based off Maureen Orth’s book Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History, Versace: American Crime Story will focus on the murder of famed designer Gianni Versace in Miami by serial killer Andrew Cunanan in July 1997. Cunanan, who committed suicide a week later, was responsible for at least five other murders in the months leading up to the Versace’s murder. Cunanan’s motives were never revealed.

Production is set to begin in April before premiering in 2018, following the debut of the second installment of American Crime Story, which will center on Hurricane Katrina.

Cruz’s casting comes months after Murphy debunked rumors that Gaga, who starred in American Horror Story: Hotel, would be taking on the role of Donatella.
