Wendy Williams Speaks Out for First Time Since Filing for Divorce From Kevin Hunter

The TV personality also addresses her addiction issues, revealing she is moving out of sober house in just a few days.

Wendy Williams is speaking out for the first time since filing for divorce from husband Kevin Hunter.

During the "Hot Topics" segment of The Wendy Williams Show on Monday, the TV personality opened up about addressing all of her issues "head-on." The episode comes less than a week after Williams served her husband of nearly 22 years with divorce papers last Thursday.

"It's so crazy because now my business is your business," said Williams, who shares a son, 19-year-old Kevin Hunter Jr., with her estranged husband. "I'm moving out of sober house in just a few days, you know. It'll be Wendy on her own. I have to tell you, you know I've been dealing with issues with addiction, alcoholism, and I have a whole new life that I planned for myself and my son."

"Believe me, when you lay in a room with no TV and four gray walls all day and no telephone ... and you lay there and think about your life, it's one of the best things, honestly, that could have happened to me," she admitted. "Everybody has things in their life that they're embarrassed to share with the world, or they're frightened to share with the world, or they're not ready to share with the world. And addressing my sobriety, my addiction, head on has really helped me sort out every single compartment of my life."

Williams continued on, explaining that she has made a "commitment" to herself and her son to "come out of here better, stronger and faster" than ever.

"And by the way," she added, "I will still commit that the motto of this show will always be 'Their business is our business.' That's right!"

As ET previously reported, Williams -- who revealed last month that she was living in a sober house -- cited "irreconcilable differences" in the divorce papers, noting there is "no reasonable prospect of reconciliation." The decision comes amid infidelity allegations involving Hunter, whose alleged mistress, Sharina Hudson, gave birth to a baby just last month.

A source told ET at the time that Williams finally had enough of Hunter's alleged cheating, and decided to finally go through with the divorce. "Wendy is done," said the source. "She should have been done a long time ago but she tried to make it work. They went to counseling but Kevin just kept lying to her."
