At the start of the 2014 CMT Music Awards, the stage was already pretty packed with ZZ Top, Luke Bryan, and the boys of Florida Georgia Line all rocking the crowd. But the audience energy went through the roof when R&B star Jason Derulo erupted onto the stage singing his recent hit Talk Dirty.
Before the show began, Derulo stopped to talk to ET on the red carpet outside the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee to talk about his reasons for performing at a celebration of country music.
"I'm a big fan of country music, and I'm a big fan of music in general," Derulo said. "So I really think today is going to be a celebration of just that."
Derulo also talked about his CMT Awards performance with Luke Bryan, and with Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, the CMT Music Award winning duo that make up Florida Georgia Line.
"I'm on stage with Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line. Before I met them I was fans of their work, but actually getting to meet them and hang out, they're absolutely nuts, crazy, just like I am," Derulo joked. "It works so well."
