The actress recently opened up about a barrage of criticism she faced for using a filter on social media.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is reflecting on the impossible beauty standards of Hollywood after getting dragged by trolls and critics over an innocuous social media post.

The 9-1-1 actress recently sat down for an interview on the Inside of You podcast with host Michael Rosenbaum, where she explained how "aging in Hollywood is really hard. You can't do anything right."

Specifically, she pointed to a recent incident in which she shared a snapshot of her new shorter 'do to Instagram, and recalled, "I was getting my hair done and I had not a stitch of makeup on. So, I threw on a filter."

"It was just a filter that like, at the time, looked nice in the light at the salon." she added. "I really gave it no thought."

"The picture ended up somewhere, and a bunch of people were like, 'Jennifer Love Hewitt is unrecognizable... so she's gone to filters because she doesn't want us to know how bad she actually looks now in her 40s,'" Hewitt said.

So, in an effort to mock the critics, Hewitt posted a bunch of photos with "over the top" filters, but that did little to appease her haters, and "then they came after me for that."

"They were like, 'Well, now she's just defending herself,' and, 'Why is she defending?'" she said. "I realized I can do no right."

"Why are you focusing so much on these a**holes who have nothing better to do than to put you down?" Rosenbaum asked.

"Because to pretend we don't is a lie," Hewitt replied. "You don’t want to care what people think about you, but you have to care what people think about you."
