Margot Robbie to Executive Produce New Shakespeare Series -- With a Female Twist

The Australian-born actress is helping to develop a 10-part series retelling classical Shakespeare tales from a female perspective.

Margot Robbie has signed to executive produce a 10-episode series retelling classic Shakespeare tales from a female perspective.

The Australian-born, Oscar-nominated I, Tonya star's production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, is partnering with ABC Studios International put together a creative team made up entirely of women, to offer a modern, new spin on Shakespeare. The series will be comprised of 10, standalone episodes, with each offering a female perspective on a Shakespeare tale, according to a news release from the studio.

"This production is a chance to create something classic yet boldly original and modern," said Keli Lee, managing director of ABC Studios International, in a statement. "The works of Shakespeare are iconic and this will present them in a way they've never been seen before."

ABC International Studios will produce the series in Australia, with filming expected to begin late this year. Series creator, Giula Sandler, who has written on several Australian television series, will pen one of the episodes.
