The 'I, Tonya' star and producer covers 'ELLE' magazine, where she explains how her aspirations in filmmaking have evolved.

Margot Robbie is not done taking on new challenges in filmmaking.

The star and producer of I, Tonya covers the February issue of ELLE, where she reveals her plans to move into the director's chair.

"I still love acting," the 27-year-old actress, who currently has several production projects in the works, explains. "But I’ve spent the last 10 years on a film set, and I realized that if I am pouring my heart and soul into a film, I want to be one of those voices in the conversation making decisions."

During the interview, Robbie also shares that taking on the role of figure skater Tonya Harding, which has been widely praised and earned her a number of nominations, including Best Lead Actress for the BAFTAs, which were announced Friday, was an intimidating role for her to take on.

“Playing Tonya [Harding], who’s very much alive and is widely documented, can be more intimidating," Robbie says.

Meanwhile, in an exclusive clip for ET from Harding's upcoming two-hour ABC interview, Truth and Lies: The Tonya Harding Story, the real Harding explains why she felt bad that Robbie had to play her.

"I felt so sorry for her that she had to actually play me, you know? You got this top, beautiful actress that actually has to try to -- and did and succeeded -- go through what I went through?" Harding, 47, tells Amy Robach in the clip. "When I watched Margot playing me, and the looks that she had, I knew that she had been studying me for quite some time. And when she told me, 'Well, I'd been studying you for almost a year,' I was, like, 'Oh, my god.'"

Truth and Lies: The Tonya Harding Story airs Jan. 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
