Will Smith teams up with his 14-year-old son Jaden in the futuristic flick After Earth and we spoke to the father-son acting duo on the red carpet of last night's New York premiere.

When asked to give his opinion of Will's choice of a bright red suit for the premiere, Jaden didn't pull any punches. "It is a bold choice, you know what I'm saying... Obama running for president was a bold choice, but he's president now." Will then added, "So bold choices -- even if you don't agree with them sometimes -- you just go with them."

Will was also asked the scrutiny his family receives in the media, specifically the fact that his children are constantly in the spotlight, and said that it all goes with the territory. "This is the family business, so there's absolutely always going to be those things come up that are pretty much par for the course," he said. "I'm a warrior and I'm teaching my son how to fight."

Director M. Night Shyamalan praised the duo's work on the film -- in which Will and Jaden's characters find themselves stranded on earth 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape. "You know it's the combination of intelligence as an actor, and his ability to move between drama and comedy so easily," he said of Will's performance. He also said the Hollywood A-lister was "an incredible asset" to be able to coach a great performance out of Jaden.
