The Twilight fan fiction Fifty Shades of Grey has hit the big screen, so what does Edward Cullen think of it?

Robert Pattinson -- who is buddies with Mr. Christian Grey, Jamie Dornan -- admitted to Reuters that he's not too familiar with the erotic book-turned-movie series. "I haven't actually read the book but I think it must be very, very different," the 28-year-old Twilight heartthrob confessed. "I don't see how it can work if it's not different."

While Pattinson somewhat praises Fifty Shades of Grey for its popularity, he seems confused as to why the E.L. James books -- and now movie -- have become such a hit in pop culture. "It's amazing; it's that fan base," he continued. "There's some kind of profound connection that a bunch of people have to it and I've never figured out quite what it is."

Pattinson also briefly touched on his friendship with the film's leading man. "It's kind of weird," he said, "I've known Jamie for about 10 years."

Dornan, 32, went more into details about his bromance with Pattinson this past month, telling Variety, "I don't remember what we talked about the last time I saw him. I think we just got drunk."

Adding of his friend's vampire romance movies, "We're not the Twilight franchise. We're a different thing. ...Whatever my situation is, it's going to be different from Rob's. They are incomparable."
