The staggering sequence was accomplished by tying the A-list actor to the plane with a rope, and then ascending to 5,000 feet with the star hanging on for dear life.
"As always, I will do everything I can to entertain an audience and put as many people into your theaters," Cruise told the convention goers during the presentation.
Although the star, who's well-known for doing his own stunts, admitted that this particular instance was massively intimidating.
"I was scared sh*tless," Cruise confessed before adding, "I'm an aerobatic pilot and I've always wanted to do that."
Cruise, who has lead the Mission: Impossible film franchise since its beginning in 1996, also said that making the series has been very enjoyable.
