5 Seconds of Summer was forced to cancel a slew of upcoming performances after Ashton Irwin was hospitalized with a case of appendicitis.
The Aussie band shared the news on their official website, telling fans that the drummer is doing just fine after the operation.
"He’s doing great and will be back up & running in no time, but he’ll need to rest up for the next week or so," the guys explained.
Ashton, Calum, Luke, and Mikey thanked their loyal fans for the outpouring of support, adding, "Thanks so much for supporting all we do, we love you. Can’t wait for us four lads to get back on the road (minus one band appendix) and rock out with you all again soon!"
The band also apologized on Twitter.
Bad news.. Ash isn't well & is in hospital w appendicitis, so we wont be able to travel to the UK for the @BBCR1 Teen Awards this weekend :(— 5 Seconds of Summer (@5SOS) October 15, 2014
Sup guys! I'm so sorry too anyone I've let down, I promise we will make it up too ya! I'll be better soon, thanks for all the love xx— Ashton Irwin (@Ashton5SOS) October 15, 2014
As of now, 5SOS won't be attending the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards this weekend and are postponing next week's scheduled trip to Japan.
While Ashton is recovering, his bandmate Luke Hemmings might be taking the time off to pursue Selena Gomez. Chatting with Nova FM this week, the guys revealed that the Rudderless starlet is the most famous celebrity who follows them on Twitter.
This revelation clearly impressed the interviewer, prompting him to ask if they've sent Justin Bieber's ex a message yet.
While Luke was quick to reply, “I haven’t no, way too creepy,” his bandmate, Calum Hood hinted that wasn't exactly true. Worthy insisted, “You so have, you told me the other day. He was like, ‘I wanna say hi’. You definitely did, you were like ‘I did it’.”
We're not quite sure what to believe, so why don't you weigh-in! Let @Katie_Krause know if you think Luke and Selena would be a cute couple, or, if you absolutely hate this idea! Make sure to include that #ETNow hashtag!
Oh, and get well, Ashton!
