Liam Payne of One Direction told the UK's Capital FM that fans can expect a bit mellower album for the boys' follow-up to Four.

"The songs have been coming out a bit more chilled," said Liam, who calls the new album "a bit Oasis-y, almost."

Liam goes on to cite Ed Sheeran as an additional influence on 1D's new sound.

"We want this to be quite a long-lasting album that you can listen to anytime, like Ed [Sheeran's] album."

Before we get into this, let's take a moment of silence for Zayn -- former One Direction member (in this Universe at least) who will not be featured on the new album.

Thank you.

Now, after Liam's comments, Directioners proceeded to be their wonderful supportive AF selves.

They are super ready for the new album!

One person who might not be so ready, unfortunately, is Oasis' Noel Gallagher.

"I know Harry Styles. We've hung out a couple of times. They're lovely lads," the British rocker told Rolling Stone. "But I've got to say, I have difficulties with people who don't write their own songs, who've got a team of songwriters who work for your record label."
