Paula Patton: Miley Twerking Hubby Was No Big Deal

Paula Patton says she doesn't understand why a media firestorm erupted after her husband Robin Thicke's recent MTV VMA appearance with a scantily-clad, tongue-wagging Miley Cyrus during which the former Hannah Montana star twerked against Thicke during her racy performance.

Appearing Wednesday on the Today show, the 37-year-old 2 Guns star said no part of the duo's VMA performance was improvised, but in fact heavily rehearsed, so she had seen it all beforehand.

"It was shocking to me," Patton said. "You know what is so funny? He finished, and I was like, 'That was great! You guys killed it!' ... Woke up the next morning, it was like, I got all these texts, like, 'Praying for you,' 'Hey, I'm here for you.' I'm like, what?" She added: "I don't know if you guys have been to a club lately, but that's how girls dance at the club. My friends dance with him like that. It's just what they do."

She added that nobody should have been surprised by the outrageous routine from the 20-year-old Cyrus. "I've got to be honest with you, I don't know what people thought Miley was going to do -- I mean, sit down and play piano?"

Patton -- who also displayed her own twerking skills by grinding against the Today show's Al Roker -- also spoke about her healthy relationship with Thicke, 36, whom she's been married to for eight years.

"There's no secret to our love. We're still madly in love. I'm not that uptight. I want him to express himself however he feels, and he lets me do the same... twerking can help the love, and I do it well enough," she said.
