Casey Kasem has died.
Iconic radio personality Casey Kasem passed away at St. Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor, WA early Sunday morning, surrounded by his children, close family and friends. He was 82 years old.
His daughter Kerri Kasem shared the news on her Facebook on Sunday, June 15, 2014.

"Early this Father's Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends. Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers," she wrote. "The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad. With love, Kerri, Mike and Julie."
No cause of death was given, those Kasem suffered a long battle with dementia and Parkinson's Disease.
Kasem was married twice and had four children, and in October, his three eldest children Mike, Kerri and Julie claimed that their stepmother, actress Jean Kasem, wouldn't allow them to visit their father. Things unfortunately took a nasty turn in May, when a judge let Kerri admit him to a hospital in Washington State after a bizarre altercation where Jean threw raw hamburger meat at Kerri. On Wednesday, per Kerri's wishes, the doctors were allowed to stop artificially feeding and hydrating the radio icon.
Kasem, best known for being the host of The American Top 40, was also the voice of Shaggy on the CBS cartoon Scooby-Doo Where Are You! He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1992, and was presented Billboard's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.

The American Top 40 ran from July 4, 1970 and lasted until 2009. His signature send-off, "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars," remains one of his most enduring legacies.
