It's not every day a celebrity's engagement news is found in a newspaper's classified section.
That was the case for Benedict Cumberbatch who revealed his engagement to theater actress/director Sophie Hunter in a paid-for announcement in The Times.
The announcement reads: "Mr. BT. Cumberbatch and Miss S.I. Hunter: The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cmberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London."
In a more traditional fashion, the 12 Years a Slave star's rep also confirmed the news to The Telegraph, saying, "I am delighted to confirm this morning's announcement that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are engaged."
Cumberbatch, 38, and Hunter, 36, met in 2009 while shooting the thriller Burlesque Fairytales, but didn't confirm their romance until this past June when they were photographer together at the French Open.
This past year, Cumberbatch told theDaily Mail that he was looking to settle down. "I would love to have children," he said. "Everyone wants to know when I’m going to settle down and who is going to be Mrs Cumberbatch. I can’t wait to do an interview like this and just talk about my child."
It sounds like we have a baby announcement to look forward to soon!
